Housing During Treatment

When you come to University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital for transplant, you may need to stay in the Twin Cities area anywhere from an extended period of time to a short stay to a follow-up visit. We make every effort to accommodate patients and families in a supportive, caring environment. Your social worker will be able to provide you with housing information that meets your family needs by identifying available resources near the hospital. BMT patients must stay within a 30-minute drive of the hospital during the initial post-transplant treatment phase.

Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House on Oak Street provides a home-away-from-home for families with children who have life-threatening illnesses. The House can accommodate up to 48 families. There is a shuttle to the hospital. Parking for a family car is also available at the House. Volunteers prepare an evening meal for families during the week and a brunch on weekends. Families come from throughout Minnesota, the United States and around the world and stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Families must live at least 60 miles from Ronald McDonald House to be eligible to stay there. Please see their web site for additional eligibility guidelines.

Argyle House and Hope Lodge

For your family's comfort, the Argyle House offers apartments near University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital on the University campus. Hope Lodge offers accommodations for patients 18 and older and one family member.
