Trenese and her family celebrate remission. Trenese's BMT Journey

While a referral by a physician to our program will speed the process, patients interested in our program are encouraged to contact us directly.

Who is involved in the referral process?

  • You and your family
  • Referring physician
  • Attending transplant physician
  • Administrative nurse coordinator
  • Patient financial representative
  • Insurance representative(often called a transplant case manager)
  • Social worker

How can we help?

Staff members from the BMT Program are ready to help you and your family at each stage of the BMT process. Once you have a referral to our program, our staff will:

  • Coordinate communication between you, your referring physician, the BMT health care team and other hospital departments.
  • Work with the hospital's financial services representatives and your insurance company to help you secure insurance coverage for your treatment.
  • Communicate with you and your referring physician about your medical condition and possible dates for evaluation and admission.
  • Identify and select potential donors for transplant.
